Social Media Isn't Activism
This statement really irritates me because it is such rubbish. It is the 21st century and social media is such a big part of most peoples lives these day. Do people really not think they are influenced by what they see on social media.
If it had not been for vegans posting photos of their food on instagram or doing youtube videos on their vegan lives, then I wouldn't have even begun to get interested in veganism. If you see someone eating lovely food and living a really happy life, you are going to pay attention. It is human nature.
Social media gives us the opportunity to interact with people from all over the globe. Someone from the other side of the planet could see a photo of mine or watch one of my videos and be inspired to look into veganism.
In my opinion, social media is the most powerful form of activism that we have at the moment. This year we have seen such a boom in vegan instagramers and youtubers sharing their food, lives, tips and tricks with others in the hope of spreading the vegan message and growing the community.
Anything that involves spreading the vegan message should be embraced.
